Mask your QR codes' short URL with your brand
This article corresponds to QR Code KIT's modern app. For more information, click here.
The short URL is what allows a dynamic QR code to be recyclable and trackable. You can use the short URL to share the content of the QR code online.
This is what a default QR Code KIT short URL looks like:
uqr.to/c109
The first part (uqr.to) corresponds to the subdomain, while the last part (c109) is a random alphanumeric string that is generated automatically when a QR code is created.
All plans feature the option to change the last part of a QR code's short URL. PRO and ENTERPRISE plans feature the option to create subdomains in order to change the first part.
This tutorial will assume you have subscribed to one of the latter plans and begin with that action. If you have a FREE or STARTER plan subscription, click here.
NOTE: We strongly recommend changing the short URL of your QR codes before printing them. Doing so after the fact will make them unusable.
Steps to edit the short URL of a QR code with PRO and ENTERPRISE plans
DNS provider setup
First, you need to create a subdomain in your DNS provider. Log in to it and follow these steps:
- Navigate to the DNS Management page
- Add a new record type "CNAME"
- In the "Host", "Name" or "Subdomain" field, enter your subdomain. For example, if you want to create the subdomain "qrs.my-domain.com", your CNAME host would be "qrs". Root domains (my-domain.com) or "www" prefixes are not allowed
- In the "Destination", "Target", "Points to" or "Value" field, enter "whitelabel.qrbridge.me"
- Leave the TTL field as is
